Todo monstruo tiene un origen. Algunos nacen pequeños, apenas reconocibles, y con el tiempo comienzan a crecer, a transformarse y a encontrar su propia forma. Así imaginamos ANIMAL Film Fest en su séptima edición.

El concepto de nuestro cartel oficial 2026, realizado por el ilustrador y artista conceptual Juan Carlos Santos Mendoza, parte de una idea sencilla pero profundamente ligada a nuestra historia: el festival ha crecido. Aquel monstruo que comenzó a dar sus primeros pasos hace seis ediciones es hoy una criatura joven, más grande y madura, pero todavía en proceso de mutación.

La ilustración convierte esa evolución en una presencia imposible de ignorar. Un monstruo cinematográfico que mira el mundo a través de múltiples lentes, como si llevara en sus propios ojos las historias, las películas y las miradas que han formado parte del festival. Detrás de él, los relámpagos atraviesan la noche y la arquitectura de Morelia se alza como su escenario natural, haciendo que la criatura no solo pertenezca a ANIMAL, sino también al lugar que la ha visto crecer.

Porque ANIMAL Film Fest no existe separado de su ciudad.

Durante seis ediciones, Morelia se ha convertido en el escenario y punto de encuentro de una comunidad que comparte el gusto por las historias oscuras, extrañas, perturbadoras y fascinantes. Lo que comenzó como una propuesta para celebrar el cine de horror ha ido encontrando un lugar propio hasta convertirse, con el paso de los años, en una tradición que esperamos siga creciendo junto con quienes la han hecho posible.

Por eso, este monstruo no representa únicamente lo que ANIMAL Film Fest ha sido. Representa también lo que todavía puede llegar a ser. Más grande. Más maduro. Más extraño. Y, sobre todo, todavía en transformación.

La séptima edición ya está aquí. El monstruo ha crecido. Y todavía no sabemos en qué puede convertirse.

Every monster has an origin. Some are born small, barely recognizable, and over time begin to grow, transform, and find their own shape. That is how we envision ANIMAL Film Fest in its seventh edition.

The concept for our official 2026 poster, created by illustrator and concept artist Juan Carlos Santos Mendoza, stems from a simple idea deeply tied to our history: the festival has grown. The monster that took its first steps six editions ago is now a young, larger, and more mature creature, yet still in the process of mutating.

The illustration turns that evolution into an unmissable presence. A cinematic monster that gazes at the world through multiple lenses, as if carrying within its own eyes the stories, films, and perspectives that have shaped the festival. Behind it, lightning pierces the night and Morelia’s architecture rises as its natural backdrop, ensuring the creature belongs not only to ANIMAL, but also to the place that watched it grow.

Because ANIMAL Film Fest does not exist apart from its city.

Across six editions, Morelia has become the stage and meeting point for a community bonded by a love for dark, strange, disturbing, and fascinating stories. What began as a project to celebrate horror cinema has carved out its own space, evolving over the years into a tradition we hope continues to grow alongside those who made it possible.

That is why this monster represents more than just what ANIMAL Film Fest has been. It also represents what it can still become. Bigger. More mature. Stranger. And above all, still transforming.

The seventh edition is here. The monster has grown. And we still don't know what it might become.
