Hay momentos en los que una historia cambia de forma. Después de seis ediciones, ANIMAL Film Fest llega a uno de ellos: un punto en el que mirar lo construido también significa preguntarnos qué hay del otro lado. Desde 2019, hemos compartido películas, descubierto nuevas voces y creado encuentros alrededor de una misma pasión: el cine de horror en todas sus formas.

El Séptimo Umbral no representa una frontera, sino el paso hacia una nueva etapa. El horror nunca permanece quieto; cambia con nuestros miedos, con el mundo que habitamos y con las formas en que aprendemos a contarlo. ANIMAL Film Fest tampoco quiere hacerlo. Esta séptima edición es una invitación a cruzar con nosotros y descubrir qué historias, miradas y experiencias nos esperan al otro lado.

Del 1 al 4 de octubre, Morelia volverá a ser punto de encuentro para quienes encuentran en el cine de género una forma de mirar, cuestionar y experimentar. Algunas películas nos incomodarán, otras nos sorprenderán y algunas permanecerán con nosotros mucho después de los créditos.

Seis ediciones nos trajeron hasta aquí. Ahora comienza la séptima. Bienvenidos al Séptimo Umbral. Bienvenidos a una nueva edición de ANIMAL Film Fest.

WELCOME TO THE SEVENTH THRESHOLD

There are moments when a story changes shape. After six editions, ANIMAL Film Fest has reached one of them: a point where looking at what we have built also means asking what lies on the other side. Since 2019, we have shared films, discovered new voices, and created encounters around the same passion: horror cinema in all its forms.

The Seventh Threshold is not a boundary, but a passage into a new chapter. Horror never stands still; it changes with our fears, with the world we inhabit, and with the ways we learn to tell its stories. ANIMAL Film Fest does not want to stand still either. This seventh edition is an invitation to cross with us and discover what stories, perspectives, and experiences await on the other side.

From October 1 to 4, Morelia will once again become a meeting point for those who find in genre cinema a way to see, question, and experiment. Some films will unsettle us, others will surprise us, and some will stay with us long after the credits roll.

Six editions have brought us here. Now the seventh begins. Welcome to the Seventh Threshold. Welcome to a new edition of ANIMAL Film Fest.

Todo monstruo tiene un origen. Algunos comienzan pequeños, apenas reconocibles, y con el tiempo crecen, se transforman y encuentran su propia forma. Así imaginamos ANIMAL Film Fest en su séptima edición: como una criatura que ha evolucionado junto con el festival.

El concepto del cartel oficial 2026, realizado por el ilustrador y artista conceptual Juan Carlos Santos Mendoza, parte de esa idea. El monstruo que comenzó a dar sus primeros pasos hace seis ediciones es hoy una criatura más grande y madura, pero todavía en transformación. Un ser cinematográfico que observa el mundo a través de múltiples lentes, llevando en sus ojos las historias, películas y miradas que han formado parte de ANIMAL.

Detrás de él, los relámpagos atraviesan la noche y la arquitectura de Morelia se convierte en su escenario natural. La ciudad no es solo el lugar donde ocurre el festival: es parte de su historia. Durante seis ediciones, Morelia ha sido punto de encuentro para una comunidad unida por el cine de horror y sus historias oscuras, extrañas, perturbadoras y fascinantes.

Este monstruo representa lo que ANIMAL Film Fest ha construido, pero también aquello en lo que todavía puede convertirse. La séptima edición marca un nuevo paso en esa transformación: una criatura más grande, más madura y aún impredecible. El monstruo ha crecido. Ahora comienza a descubrir en qué puede convertirse.

Every monster has an origin. Some begin small, barely recognizable, and over time they grow, transform, and find their own shape. This is how we imagine ANIMAL Film Fest in its seventh edition: as a creature that has evolved alongside the festival.

The concept for the official 2026 poster, created by illustrator and concept artist Juan Carlos Santos Mendoza, begins with that idea. The monster that took its first steps six editions ago is now larger and more mature, yet still transforming. A cinematic creature that sees the world through multiple lenses, carrying in its eyes the stories, films, and perspectives that have shaped ANIMAL.

Behind it, lightning cuts through the night as Morelia’s architecture becomes its natural setting. The city is not simply where the festival takes place; it is part of its history. For six editions, Morelia has been a meeting point for a community brought together by horror cinema and its dark, strange, disturbing, and fascinating stories.

This monster represents what ANIMAL Film Fest has built, but also what it can still become. The seventh edition marks another step in that transformation: a creature larger, more mature, and still unpredictable. The monster has grown. Now it begins to discover what it can become.
